I occasionally happen up on the front page of The Times. My excuse? I like crosswords & I have a friend who doesn’t, but does have a Times subscription.
Accordingly I also occasionally read some of the comments, even though I can’t post anything. Not that it would be worthwhile. The Times’ commenters are the silent majority of NPCs, normies and tedious, moral-grandstanding pedants in this country. Their credulity stretches even my grasp of how utterly programmed and subordinated people in Britain are.
So I was slightly surprised to see what unfolded this morning.
Not that - political drama in Argentina is not that surprising. But the response from the Times’ commenters was, given what I said above.
It’s unusual for comments to be open under a story like this, because normally, “people” can only be trusted to put comments under stories about white men doing bad things, or fluff pieces about kittens stuck up trees. But perhaps this falls into the first category. Or so they thought.
Because a great many of the comments - some of which have been modded out, but which have replies that echo the idea. That idea is that Kirchner is massively corrupt and has deep legal troubles, and that it wouldn’t be beyond belief to suppose that she had staged this event in order to distract/garner sympathy/get out of a tight spot.
I can’t see this comment section staying open, because the sheep are up on their hind legs and saying things of which the internet jannies cannot tolerate. Well, it’s violence against a woman, innit.
Personally I’m surprised it didn’t happen while she was going out for a sandwich at 3am in arctic conditions.
And where is this man’s MAGA hat??
I had to look hard at this photo to rule out the impression that he was cuddling a black kitten.
The typical Times normie response comes from a man in the above comment section…
This naivety is staggering. What this commenter assumes to be attempted murder may well be nothing of the sort in reality. We don’t know anything about the accused man. Maybe Kirchner promised to make sure he had a cushy time in prison and a million dollars when he gets out, and to look after his family while he’s gone? Maybe he was headed to prison on a drugs charge anyway. Maybe a pardon will come in a year or two as an “incredible act of courage, forgiveness and humility” from the embattled Kirschner? We don’t know why the gun didn’t fire, and I don’t know anything about guns, but I’m sure it’s not beyond the wit of man to intentionally impede the firing mechanism. Is it?
After all, this is MAGA country. Hacer grande a Argentina otra vez, bitch.
The Internet scuttlebutt machine is going to be fascinating in the days to come. Maybe it was actually Andrew Torba, trying to Make Gab Actually Interesting, MGAI?
