Come off it. I remember that press conference where Boris and his advisors essentially tried to propose the idea that we should just do absolutely nothing and infect everybody to generate “herd immunity.” I was more disgusted by that than some half assed vaccine, derived from being publicly shamed into actually doing something.

And instead we had social distancing that did nothing but make businesses ruinously unviable, masks that do absolutely nothing to prevent spread, propaganda which created division and stoked fear and hatred, NHS measures that resulted in calamitous waiting times for essential treatments, the discharge of Covid-infected patients into care homes, the advancing use of end-of-life treatments (Liverpool pathway, midazolam etc), the shutdown of small businesses while giant supermarkets and Amazon soaked up all the trade, furlough payments for people to sit on their arses, a permanent move towards lower productivity, poorer customer service, the effective disintegration of society and the economy.

Sometimes the 'doing nothing' option really is for the best.
